Earlier that same day, another disturbing incident was recorded in Kakuru community, Erena Ward, where a blind man was assaulted by bandits. Residents said his right hand was cut off after his phone was taken from him.
The victim is currently receiving first aid at a local medical shop in Kuduru community.
In addition to the attacks, villagers in Palaita community reported that bandits stormed a rice farm and abducted several labourers, including pregnant women. Some locals said the number of abducted persons could be as high as 24, although this figure has not yet been independently verified.
These fresh incidents come barely a week after armed men invaded St. Mary’s Catholic School in the Papiri community of Agwara Local Government Area, kidnapping over 300 students and 12 teachers in one of the most shocking school abductions in recent years.
Residents have called for urgent government action as insecurity continues to escalate across multiple communities in the state.
