Governors under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have given their recommendation for the zoning formula for the next President of the Senate and Speaker of the House of Representatives.
This is coming amid the scrabble for the leadership of the incoming 10th Assembly.
The governors under the aegis of the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF) had met on Saturday, April 8 to agree on the zoning formula for the Senate Presidency and the Speakership of the House of Representatives.
The meeting produced a memo containing the recommendation for the zoning formula for the Senate Presidency and Speakership.

As recommended by the governors, the Senate President should be zoned to either of the South-East or South-South or North-Central.
Other recommended positions by the governors are;
Deputy Senate President – North-Central or North-West
Speaker of the House – North-Central or North-West.
Deputy Speaker of the House – South-East or South-South.
The memo added that other principal positions should be allotted as compensation to candidates who stepped down from their ambition for the top seat in the House of Assembly.
These positions include:
Majority Leader, Deputy Majority Leader, Chief Whip, and Deputy Chief Whip.
Notwithstanding, checks revealed the memo would have to be assented to by the President-elect, Bola Tinubu.
Due to this, the party’s governors agreed to forward the memo to Tinubu for “expedited action.”
The memo was duly signed by the PGF Chairman and Kebbi State Governor, Atiku Bagudu.
