A 12-year-old girl has given birth to a baby boy after being raped by an elementary school teacher in Unguwan Fantaro, Kachia Local Government Area, Kaduna state, in June 2021.
The victim was enticed by the teacher simply identified as Salihu under the guise of purchasing chin-chin worth N200 which she was hawking in her area. Salihu is said to have violated Halima by covering her mouth.
Halima was discovered to be pregnant three months later and was taken into the custody of the Ummulkhairi Foundation, which is run by the Kaduna State Ministry of Human Services and Social Development.

Hafsat Baba, the state Commissioner of Human Services and Social Development, told newsmen that the girl had successfully delivered a boy child.
He said:
“The little girl gave birth to a baby boy three weeks ago, and I am happy the doctors at Barau Dikko Hospital were able to manage her well to give birth on her own, rather than allowing her to go through a caesarean section.
Though the baby is with us, we just handed her over to her mother on Wednesday. We are, however, not leaving any stone unturned to see that justice prevails and the man who put the little girl in a family way pays for his action.”
The Commissioner, however, stated that the perpetrator has been apprehended and is in police custody.
