While working with the Ghanaian Anti-Human Trafficking Police, Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO) Ghana, and the Nigerian High Commission in Accra, the NiDCOM were also able to apprehend five suspected human traffickers.

Confirming the incident, the NiDCOM spokesperson, said this new rescue brings the total number of people rescued from Ghana to 130.

He also added that the victims are between the age of 18 to 29 and hailing from Anambra, Abia, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Imo, Edo, and Ebonyi states.

Akinboye Akinsola, a NiDCOM representative, escorted the rescued women back to Nigeria, where they were handed over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for rehabilitation and reintegration.

The NiDCOM chairman, Abike Dabiri-Erewa thanked Nigeria’s first lady, Oluremi Tinubu for her support in the operation, while also praising the works of the Ghana authorities.

Aside the women, the NiDCOM body also confirmed the rescue of a man from the Ghana prison, who have now undergone rehabilitation and rejoined his family in Anambra State.
