At least eighteen passengers have reportedly died in an auto crash in Lagos.

Daily Report Nigeria reports that the deceased passengers chartered a bus from the Yaba area of Lagos to attend a group party in the Republic of Benin.

Unfortunately, the commercial bus filled with party-goers crashed in Age-Mowo close to Mowo along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, killing all passengers onboard.

Both the driver of the bus and his motor boy also died in a tragic accident that happened at about 9 am on Sunday.

A statement by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) read:

“It involved a Mazda commercial bus with passengers and a truck loaded with sand.

“The driver of the commercial bus lost control when he saw a truck ahead of him while trying to overtake the tipper truck loaded with sand.

“Immediately, 20 people died including the 18 passengers alongside the commercial bus driver and his motor boy.”

It was gathered that the victims’ remains had been transferred to the morgue at Badagry General Hospital, and the traffic control authorities have expressed their condolences to relatives in the crash.
