Two people have lost their lives inna ghastly boat collision in Bayelsa state.

A fisherman’s boat was said to have collided with a speed boat, leading to casualties and damages.
Tension has erupted in Sagbama, Bayelsa state, following a boat accident that occured in the state.
According to reports from Daily Trust, a speed boat carrying passengers was said to have collided with a fisherman boat, leading to the accident.

This happened at Akede community in Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State on Tuesday evening, April 1, 2025.
The speed boat, which was operated by a man simply identified as Saturday was traveling from Anyama Ijaw towards Lubia and Foropa communities when it collided with a fishing boat at the Akede Community waterfront.
According to a source, some divers jumped into the water to rescue people, but two people have been confirmed dead already.

The chairman of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria, Comrade Ogoniba Ipigansi who confirmed the accident noted that 13 passengers were yet to be found.
