A tragic incident occurred in the FESTAC area of Lagos State on Friday, resulting in the loss of two women’s lives.

According to the police spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the women were struck by lightning during a rainstorm.

In a social media post, Hundeyin revealed that the women had taken shelter in a shanty built under high-voltage wires on First Avenue, FESTAC, during the downpour.

Unfortunately, lightning struck the structure, electrocuting them instantly and causing a fire outbreak.

Hundeyin extended his condolences to the families of the deceased, praying that their souls rest in peace.

He also warned residents to be cautious during storms and avoid taking shelter in unsafe structures to prevent such tragedies from occurring in the future.

Hundeyin said:

Somewhere on First Avenue, FESTAC, two women remained indoors during the downpour yesterday.

“Lightning struck, electrocuting them instantly and causing a fire outbreak.”
