200 Rescued As Three-storey Building Collapse In Anambra | Daily Report Nigeria

200 lives have been saved by operatives of the Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA) following a building collapse in Anambra State.

According to reports, the ACTDA had earlier gotten wind of the information that the building is unstable, and had evacuated 200 people including students from the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (Unizik) Awka, Anambra State.

While confirming the news to journalist, the Agency’s Deputy Commander in charge of Rapid Response, Henry Uchechukwu Nabolisa confirmed that the building has been sealed for investigations.

He also added that the collapse of the building was largely due to the numerous soak aways in the compound, adding that the structure has more than 10 soakaways surrounding the entire compound.

Nabolisa while warning other residents in the state not to delay reporting any collapse signal to the relevant authority for prompt intervention, noted that no life was lost and no injury was recorded in the incident.
