Brentford midfielder, Frank Onyeka is delirious to be part of Nigerian squad to participate in the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

The 24-year-old Onyeka made it into the final 28-man squad to represent Nigeria at the AFCON.

The tournament is going to be Onyeka’s first major tournament for Nigeria.

Maiduguri-born came forth at Midtjylland Senior Club in 2017 before joining the Bees in 2021.

Onyeka therefore, admitted it’s a great favor going to take part in AFCON for the first time.

Onyeka was also hopeful that his debut would hand him personal achievements as he also anticipated that the concerted effort of the team will yield positive results.

Onyeka enthusiastically said: “It is my first time representing my country in the Africa Cup of Nations. So, I’m looking forward to it. I’m excited to represent my country.”

Unfortunately, his debut recorded Nigeria’s 1-0 defeat to Algeria during a friendly game in October 2022 .

In the ongoing campaign, Onyeka has registered just one goal in 17 league matches for Thomas Frank’s side.

Brentford is down in 12th place with 23 points in 19 games since the start of the season.
