2021 AFCON: 'Eagles Will Cage Egypt’s Salah' — Okocha | Daily Report Nigeria

Austin Jay Jay Okocha, ex-Super Eagles captain has disclosed that Nigeria have enough genii to pocket Liverpool’s winger, Mohamed Salah on Tuesday’s Nigeria opener against Egypt.

Nigeria is to face Egypt, Sudan and Guinea-Bissau in Group ‘D’ of the African Cup of Nations .

The Super Eagles’ opening match comes against Carlos Queiroz’s citizens in Garoua, Cameroon next Tuesday.

The 48-year-old held the Eagles are blessed with ingenuity to cage this season’s leading-scorer in the English Premier League from causing shambles on Tuesday’s match.

Meanwhile, the former PSG star, Okocha alongside Nwankwo Kanu and Garba Lawal have been appointed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to provide technical and ambassadorial support for the crew.

The Super Eagles arrived in Garoua, Cameroon the venue of their Group D matches on Wednesday night.

They had their first training session on Thursday evening at the Stade Roumdé Adjia.

However, two Nigerian stars, Tyrone Ebuehi of Venezia in Italy Serie ‘A’ and Paderbon’s Jamilu Collins were absent during the training session and the duo are expected to join the squad in Garoua.

Okocha told The Guardian in a chat in Lagos: “Salah is one of the biggest stars that will be on parade in Cameroon.”

“But also remember that the Super Eagles is loaded with top stars. We have players who can cage Salah, even, if it means deploying two players to mark him out. The first match matters a lot for Nigeria, and I know that coach Austin Eguavoean will want to put smiles on the faces of Nigerians.”
