2021 AFCON: Super Eagles Arrive Cameroon Without Ighalo, Ebuehi, Collins | Daily Report Nigeria

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have arrived in Garoua, Cameroon ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The Senior team of Nigeria landed at the venue for the tournament less than an hour after they departed the country on Wednesday night.

The team of Nigeria got to the capital of the North Region of Cameroon through chartered flight.

Austin Eguavoen, the caretaker manager led the available 25 players, while still anticipating the arrival of the former Manchester United striker, Odion Ighalo, Jamiliu Collins of Paderborn and Venezia’s Tyronne Ebuehi at the Stadium.

The competition will commence on Sunday, 9th of January when the host (Cameroon) will be clashing against Burkina.

Meanwhile, the Super Eagles will be having an opener with Mohamed Salah’s side, Egypt two days later.

The confrontation between the two favorites in group ‘D’ will hold at the Roumde Adjia Stadium in Garoua.

Subsequently, Nigeria will take on Sudan and Guinea-Bissau on 15th and 19th respectively.

Meanwhile, Nigeria have not won in their last three AFCON meetings with Egypt, they only drew 1-1 on the 25th of March, 2016 before the suffered a 1-0 defeat four days later.

Previously, the Pharaohs had thrashed the Eagles 3-1 in 2010. Perhaps, the imminent competition will hand Nigeria the chance of requiting the previous embarrassment in Tuesday’s game.
