The All Progressives Congress, APC, has zoned its 2023 presidential ticket seat to Southern Nigeria.
This was disclosed on Tuesday by Governor Nasir El-rufai of Kaduna State, during an interview with State House correspondents, following a meeting between President Muhammadu Buhari and APC governors.
El-Rufai said the ruling party has also zoned the National Chairmanship ticket to the North, saying that both decisions were approved by President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to the governor, the President as well all APC governors agreed on the zoning formula for all the six geopolitical zones ahead of the 2023 general elections.
He said the North will take over positions previously occupied by the South in the last eight years and vice versa; a situation he described as simple and equitable.
He said: “We have agreed on zoning formula for all the six geopolitical zones and essentially, we swapped. Northern zones will take positions that Southern zones had in the last eight years and vice versa.”
“So, it’s a very simple, equitable, and fair formula. We will now go back and consult at the zonal level, and look at the positions that are available and the process of the convention preparation will start in earnest. So by the grace of God on the 26th of March, we will have done a national convention.”
El-Rufai also denied reports that there was a division among the APC governors but admitted that there were disagreements over the APC National Convention.
Present at the meeting between the President and the APC governor were Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF) Boss Mustapha and the Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari.
