  • Controversial Nigerian politician, Nyesom Wike has revealed why he didn’t back Peter Obi up during the 2023 general election.

  • The Minister noted that he clearly analyzed who the winner of the election would be, so he played his cards right.

Nyesom Wike has revealed reasons he didn’t support former Labour party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

According to the Minister of the Federal Capital territory, he analyzed all contesting candidates, and discovered that Peter obi was more of a “social media candidate.”

Explaining what he means, Wike added that he was only loved online, as many people wouldn’t come out to vote for him.

While addressing the press in Abuja, Wike said he followed a candidate who has chances of winning, rather than mere popularity on social media.

No, he has no chance to win election,” Wike said. “I don’t go to where you see people like this kind of social media candidates. I don’t do social media candidate.”

“I said I see that as a politician, and I analyse the candidate who is likely to win,” he said.

“In politics, it’s not always the right that oh, this is the best candidate. No, no, no,” he said. “You see Nigerians today, in politics, so many factors come in.”

He also commended the winner, and current president of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating that he survived all opposition and tribulations he encountered during the time of the general election.

No party in government would at that time bring some policy when you know you’re running an election,” he said. “But everything was done and he survived. he survived it.”
