2023: PDP Gives Update on Atiku, Wike Rift

The Peoples Democratic Party, has revealed the level of efforts it has expended towards reconciling its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.

National Publicity Secretary of PDP, Debo Ologunagba, noted that that party was all out with efforts to reconcile the aggrieved party members.

Ologunagba, while addressing newsmen on Thursday in Abuja, said the a misunderstanding within any family is nothing new, adding that the ability to handle such differences was the key factor.

In PDP we believe that people should speak. We don’t give instructions. We allow issues to be discussed openly and that’s what we’re doing. The processes of the party is working well.

“We are competent in our processes. It might be slow, by the expectations of other people but within our democratic process, it is ongoing.

“It is a work in progress. We are making progress. We are very certain we will do well. Not just for the party but for the interest of Nigeria,” he said.

Governor Wike is said to be aggrieved with the PDP presidential candidate on how he was treated by the former Vice President.

After losing the PDP presidential primary to Atiku, Wike was also overlooked by the former in the process of picking a running mate ahead of the 2023 election.
