The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to consider Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State, the former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi; former Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, and former Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu as his likely successor

Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the Ohanaeze Secretary-General handed the names to the president on Sunday, while reacting to Buhari, the All Progressives Congress, APC, and Northern governors’ backing of a Southern Presidency.

In a statement he signed and forwarded to newsmen, Isiguzoro said: “Buhari and APC Northern Governors have shown that right decision on Southern Presidency has assuaged, soothe the nerves, responded to the anxieties and scepticism of the South and renewed the confidence of Nigerians.

“President should surprise the world with a choice that will cement the cracks on the walls of the country’s unity; this is a decisive moment for President Buhari to decorate himself in a place of dignity and admiration in the history of Nigeria by constraining his search for a successor among the Igbo APC aspirants to unify the country, Chibuike Amaechi, David Umahi, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, and Ogbonnaya Onu are wonderful choices at the discretion of the President to leave a lasting legacy that will uplift him as a National Statesman in the same ranks of Great Zik of Africa, Obafemi Awolowo, and Abubarkar Tafawa Belewa”.
