Former Abia state governor, Orji Kalu has explained why he withdrew from the 2023 presidential race and declared his support for Ahmed Lawan, a northerner.

Kalu said “If aspirants from the South-West and South-South cannot support their brothers from the South-East, It is only politically correct to support the North-East geo-political zoneā€, stressing that this is the shortest route for southeast to the presidency.

The senate Chief-whip stated this while accusing elder statesman, Edwin Clark of betraying the South-East and its quest for the 2023 presidency, saying that the Niger Delta leaderā€™s ā€œlate hourā€ support for the South-East is suspicious.
