2023: Stop Using 'Unhealthy Borrowings' to Sponsor PDP Campaigns, APC Youths Tell Okowa | Daily Report Nigeria

Youths under the All Progressives Congress (APC) have accused Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of engaging in ‘unhealthy borrowings’ in Delta State.

The youths particularly accused the vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the election of using same funds to sponsor his ambition as well as campaigns of the PDP.

The position of the youths of the main opposition party in Delta State is coming on heels of a double loan requests of N100 billion and N2 billion approved by the Delta State House of Assembly.

Governor Okowa had explained that the N100 billion loan would be used for the payment of contractors and funding of an assortment of crucial ongoing projects across the state.

Also, the N2 billion bank facility will be used to fund an additional investment of three per cent equity in the UTM Offshore Limited Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) Project.

However, reacting to the development, the Delta State APC Youth Leader, Comrade Napoleon Kenerekedi warned Okowa to desist from further indebting the state.

Kenerekedi said this on Sunday while addressing newsmen following the conclusion of a strategic meeting of all APC youth leaders across the 25 local government areas of the state in Effurun.

He warned that the antics of Governor Okowa will not only be injurious to the state in the future, but threatens the success of the next administration.

Kenerekedi further threw shades at the Delta State House of Assembly led by the governorship candidate of the PDP, Sheriff Oborevwori, as a rubber-stamped assembly.

Expressing confidence that the APC will take over power in 2023, Kenerekedi said;

“We urge Governor Okowa to desist from using the name of the state for unhealthy borrowings that are used to sponsor his personal ambition and that of the PDP.

“He is already creating problems for the next administration and jeopardizing the future of the state. What is the rationale behind engaging in such loans when his administration is almost over?

“Okowa’s antics is a further pointer that Deltans need the progressive agenda of the APC in 2023,” Kenerekedi added.

He explained that the strategic meeting was for all APC youth leaders in the state to harmonize towards ensuring victory for the party at the 2023 polls, adding that the PDP will suffer unimaginable defeat.
