Youths under the aegis of the Delta Youth Political Alliance, DYPA, have unveiled and adopted Sheriff Oborevwori as the sole governorship candidate in the state.

In a press conference on Friday, the group said no political party has the wherewithal to defeat the PDP and its governorship candidate in the 2023 poll.

DYPA also adopted Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Ifeanyi Okowa as presidential and vice-presidential candidates for 2023.

Others adopted as the group’s sole candidates in next year’s general election include; Evang. Michael Diden, alias Ejele, PDP Delta South senatorial candidate, Julius Pondi, PDP candidate for Burutu federal constituency, and Asupa Forteta, PDP candidate for Delta State House of Assembly, Burutu North.

Also adopted were Jite Brown, PDP Delta State House of Assembly candidate, Udu Constituency, and Hon. Peres Oloye, PDP Candidate Delta State House of Assembly, Burutu South.

Addressing participants, the group’s co-coordinators Amb. Comrade Ozobo Austin and Comrade Ellington Ebakumo said the adoption was to disabuse the mind of people expecting another PDP governorship candidate through court processes.

The duo called for all aggrieved members of the party to retrace their steps and work for the victory of the party in 2023.

Speaking further, the duo explained that the adoption was to reaffirm the unalloyed support Delta youths have portrayed for Oborovweri for the governorship race.

The group’s leaders also noted that the decision was to officially inform the general public that every disagreement in the party had ended and that there was no more faction in the party.

It group maintained that Sheriff Oborevwori has what it takes to govern Delta State when elected come 2023, and urged Deltans to come out en mass to vote for all PDP candidates at the polls.

They stressed that the essence of the alliance was that no single senatorial district can produce the governor of the state.

The event, which was held at the Orhuwhorun town hall, in Udu local government area was described as the first of its kind as it was colorful and well attended.
