2024 WASSCE Begins Today – WAEC

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) Nigeria has released the date for the commencement of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) across the country.

As per WAEC’s announcement, the May/June examination will begin on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, and conclude on June 24, 2024.

Dr Amos Dangut, the Head of WAEC Nigeria Office, made this disclosure in his address at the WAEC Lagos Office on Monday, April 29.

Dangut disclosed that the WASSCE for School Candidates, 2024, will span seven weeks and six days, beginning on April 30 and ending on June 24, 2024.

It will be administered in four WAEC member countries, namely Nigeria, Gambia, Sierra Leone, and Liberia.

He added that a total of 1,814,344 candidates from 22,229 schools have registered for the May/June SSCE examination.

Out of these, 902,328 are males, amounting to 49.73 per cent, and 912,016 are females, which is 50.27 per cent.

Furthermore, Dangut stated that the candidature for the 2024 May/June SCCE examination rose by 192,948. Candidates will be examined in 76 subjects, consisting of 197 papers.

Notably, about 30,000 practicing senior secondary school teachers, nominated by various Ministries of Education, will supervise the examination.

WAEC released the timetable for the 2024 May/June SCCE examination in Nigeria. Foods and Nutrition 3 (practical) Planning Session and Home Management 3 (practical) Planning Session will start on Tuesday, April 30, 2024.
