2025 Q3: Nigerian DisCos Collect N570.25bn of N706.61bn Billed Electricity – NERC Report

In the third quarter of 2025, Nigerian electricity Distribution Companies (DisCos) collected N570.25 billion of the N706.61 billion billed, achieving a collection efficiency of 80.70%, the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) reports.

This represents a 4.63 percentage point improvement over Q2 2025.
Despite improved collections, DisCos remitted only N381.29 billion to upstream operators, leaving N19.18 billion outstanding, reflecting a remittance rate of 95.21%.

Total energy off-take by all DisCos was valued at N854.53 billion, with a billing efficiency of 82.69%. However, billing losses totaled N147.92 billion, and ATC&C losses averaged 33.27%, surpassing the 2025 MYTO target of 20.54%.

Only Eko and Ikeja DisCos met their ATC&C targets, while Kaduna DisCo recorded the poorest performance.
Meter installations slightly increased to 228,614 units, with the majority installed under the Meter Asset Provider (MAP) framework.

Average hourly electricity generation fell 7.15% to 4,179.15MWh, totaling 9,227.56GWh, due to reduced off-take. The quarter also saw one major grid collapse on September 10, 2025.

Customer complaints at DisCo complaint centers decreased by 26.06% to 168,033, with a resolution rate of 62.30%. Metering, billing, and service interruptions remained the top issues reported.
