Demola Olarenwaju, the Special Assistant on Digital Media Strategy to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has dismissed widespread reports suggesting that the All Democratic Alliance (ADA) has been officially adopted as the political platform for Nigeria’s 2027 opposition coalition.
In a post on his verified X handle on Saturday, Mr Olarenwaju stated that the media was making matters worse by promoting unconfirmed stories about the coalition’s activities. He said the ADA was only one of many political groups in the process of registration, but had not yet been adopted by the coalition.
According to him, “Nigerian newspapers often contribute to our challenges. A group is in the process of pursuing party registration, just like any other Nigerian, but they need to coordinate this with the coalition.”

He reaffirmed that ADA had not been officially adopted, adding that the coalition would formally communicate any final decision to the public. “ADA has not been adopted by the coalition, and when the time is right, the public will be informed about the appropriate choices and decisions. Just be patient with that,” he wrote.

His remarks come amid speculations that prominent political figures including Atiku Abubakar, Nasir El-Rufai, Peter Obi, and Rotimi Amaechi had settled on ADA as the opposition party to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.
The Nigeria National Coalition Group (NCG) had recently submitted a formal request to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register the ADA.
