The PDP has framed the 2027 elections as a contest between President Tinubu and the hardships faced by Nigerians, urging citizens to take ownership of the election outcome.

PDP Acting Chairman, Umar Damagum, made the remarks while presenting a Certificate of Return to Anambra governorship candidate, Chief Ezenwafor Jude.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared that the 2027 general elections will not be a battle between political parties, but between Nigerians and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), led by President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking on Thursday during the presentation of a Certificate of Return to Anambra PDP governorship candidate, Chief Ezenwafor Jude, PDP Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Damagum, said:“This election in 2027 is not about how many governors you have or how many leaders. It’s about Tinubu and Nigerians,” he stated.
“The ordinary man is feeling the pain, and the decision is his. So I want to use this opportunity to tell Nigerians that it is their election. It is APC versus Nigerians.”

“It’s not APC versus any governor or senator or anything but APC versus Nigerians.”
Damagum also addressed the recent defection of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, his predecessor Ifeanyi Okowa, and members of their cabinet to the APC.
He described the move as painful and undeserved, given the party’s strong backing of Delta State over the years.

“It’s very sad and unfortunate because to me, if there’s any state that should think that way, not Delta, because the party is very magnanimous,” Damagum lamented.
“We have given Delta State all our supporr from the emergence of the governor to his predecessor, who also doubled as our vice presidential candidate. We least expected this action from them.”
Despite the defections, Damagum reaffirmed the PDP’s resilience, noting the party has withstood greater political storms and remains committed to “rescuing Nigerians from hardship.”
