The coalition has adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its political platform, following a strategic meeting held Tuesday night in Abuja.
In a major political development ahead of the 2027 general elections, Dr. Lukman Salihu Mohammed, former Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Northwest, has been named head of the secretariat for a newly formed opposition coalition.
The coalition, which includes high-profile defectors from the ruling APC, has officially adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its political platform.
The decision was reached during a closed-door meeting held Tuesday night in Abuja.

An insider familiar with the meeting confirmed the appointment and the ADC adoption, calling the coalition “a political family that must learn to manage egos.”

The source explained, “Even if the first child of the first wife is 30 years older, all first children are treated as equals. It’s about treating everyone as co-equals.”
Dr. Lukman’s involvement is seen as a strategic blow to the APC, especially in the Northwest, where he holds strong grassroots influence.
While the coalition’s full agenda remains undisclosed, its structure and leadership hint at a coordinated effort to counter President Bola Tinubu’s influence in 2027.
