Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has declared that former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, is the only political force keeping the African Democratic Congress (ADC) relevant ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Fayose made the assertion on Friday while speaking on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme monitored by Daily Post. According to him, without Obi, the ADC would have no significant political weight.

He argued that Obi’s influence transcends party platforms, stressing that wherever the former Anambra State governor goes, he automatically becomes the party’s major attraction.
“Peter Obi is the only life in ADC.

Every other person there is semi-existent. If Obi had remained in the Labour Party or moved to Accord Party, he would still be the only life there. The others are old forces with no real political presence,” Fayose said.

The former governor also dismissed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as politically irrelevant, describing the opposition party as “technically dead.”
He cautioned against blaming Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, for the internal crisis rocking the PDP, noting that the party’s problems predate the governor’s current political role.

Fayose further reiterated his open support for President Bola Tinubu, stating that he backed Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election and has remained consistent with that position.

“I supported Tinubu openly in 2023 and I didn’t hide it. Till today, I am still there. I don’t jump parties. I have said it clearly that I am not a member of the APC and I will never be,” he added.
