A 22-year-old lady identified as Julija Adlesic, has been sentenced to two years imprisonment for deliberately cutting off her hand with a circular saw to make a fraudulent insurance claim in Slovenia.

Adlesic, in conspiracy with her boyfriend severed her left hand above the wrist at their home in 2019.

Adlesic had in 2019 signed five (5) contracts with different insurance companies in a deal worth over €1million, about half was paid immediately while the rest on monthly installments.

While her boyfriend was also sentenced to three years imprisonment, it was learnt that the duo deliberately left the hand at home instead of taking it to the hospital for treatment.

This was done in bid to receive in triple fold compensation for a permanent disability, as she claimed it was an accident.

However, doctors were able to reattach the hand after authorities managed to pick up the hand on time at their home.
