The Sokoto State Police Command has arrested a 25 year old man, Sufiyanu Aliyu, for the alleged murder in Sokoto of his 15 year old wife, Suwaiba Abubakar Bawa, following a domestic dispute that turned violent at their home in Gwanyal Village, Tangaza Local Government Area.
According to the police, the tragic incident happened around 7:30 pm. on October 27, when an argument between the couple escalated into violence. Witnesses said what began as a disagreement quickly turned into a physical confrontation.

DSP Ahmad Rufai, the spokesperson for the Sokoto Police Command, confirmed the arrest in a statement. He explained that officers received a distress report and immediately moved to the village.
“When our team arrived, the scene was secured and processed for evidence,” he stated.
Investigators say Aliyu allegedly picked up a knife during the quarrel and stabbed his wife, causing fatal injuries. The weapon, believed to be what he used in the attack, was recovered at the scene.

The teenage girl was rushed to the hospital, where a medical doctor pronounced her dead.
Police say the suspect confessed to the crime during interrogation and is currently in custody. The command assured the public that the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further action, emphasizing that justice will take its course.
