28-Year-Old Electrician Electrocuted To Death In Oyo

• An electrician has passed away, after being electrocuted to death in Oyo state.

• The man was said to have tried repairing a fault in an high-tension cable, before meeting his doom.

A 28-year-old electrician has passed away after being electrocuted in oyo state.

Daily Report Nigeria gathers that the deceased was repairing a faulty connection on the 33kv high-tension cables at the Odi Babaode area of the town when the incident happened.

This happened on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 in Eruwa, Ibarapa Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Confirming the incident, the State Fire service, through it manager, Yemi Akinyinka said the agency had received a distress call about the incident, and swung into action, but the victim was electrocuted to death before they could get there.

The incident occurred when the victim (electrician) was trying to rectify an electrical fault on the active power lines without shutting down the feeder,”

“He was electrocuted while trying to fix an electrical fault on the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company’s 33KV High tension cables in the area.”

The distressed call was reported at 15:29hrs on Wednesday, April 23, 2025.

“Peluola Babatunde led a rescue team to the scene of the incident but unfortunately the victim had already been electrocuted. The remains of the victim have been recovered and handed over to a team of policemen from Eruwa Police Station.

“Life has no duplicate hence it’s only trained engineer or technician that should shoulder the responsibility of handling active electrical equipment,” Akinyinka added.
