Fire on Monday broke out at a police headquarters in the Egyptian city of Ismailia leaving not less than 38 people injured.
No fatalities were immediately reported but the building was fully staffed with policemen when the fire broke out before dawn.
According to the health ministry, when the first rescue services arrived, the blaze had engulfed the entire building of the Ismailia Security Directorate. However, the blaze was brought under control.
The cause of the blaze is not yet known and security forces have sealed off the area.

Authorities have not made statements on how many policemen and detainees were inside the building overnight.
The health ministry also noted that 26 persons wounded were transferred to a local hospital, out of which 24 suffered “asphyxiation” while two suffered burns.
50 ambulances were deployed to the scene, which was joined by military emergency services including two planes.
