The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has announced that up to 50% of pharmaceutical products imported into Nigeria are fake.
DAILY REPORT NIGERIA reports that NAFDAC Director-General, Mojisola Adeyeye disclosed this at a recent stakeholders meeting held in Abuja.
Adeyeye explained that certificates for pharmaceutical products (CPPs) issued in the format recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) guarantee the quality of medicines and the integrity of exporting countries.
The NAFDAC DG lamented that despite her efforts to ensure the quality of products, many of the CPPs arriving in Nigeria are counterfeit.
