Kidnappers of IPMAN Chairman Demands N80m
Abductors of popular member and factional chairman of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Benin Depot, Alhaji Abdul-Hamid Egele, popularly known as ‘Baba Petrol,’ have demanded N80 million ransom for his release five days after he was kidnapped in front of his house in Jattu, Etsako West local government area of Edo State.
“The kidnappers contacted the family this morning and they are demanding N80m to release him,” a source close to the family said in Auchi.
That is the latest development, and it is the first time they have contacted the family since Monday evening when he was kidnapped in front of his gate after leaving work, and the kidnappers arrived in vehicles.”

It should be noted that the incident occurred on Monday evening around 7 p.m. in Jattu, Etsako West local government area.
According to an eyewitness who requested anonymity, the incident occurred as Egele was returning home from work and was confronted by the gunmen.
“The gunmen ambushed the IPMAN chairman with two vehicles without license plates and fired at his jeep, killing his driver,” he said.

“The IPMAN chairman was later taken away after the security personnel assigned to him were overpowered by the gunmen, who injured the security personnel,” an eyewitness said.
When contacted yesterday, Police Public Relations Officer Bello Kotongs stated that the police have yet to receive any new information about the kidnapping and that the family has not informed the police of any contact.
