Buhari Approves Suspension, Prosecution of Adamawa REC, Hudu Yunusa-Ari
President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the suspension of Barr. Hudu Yunusa Ari, Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), of Adamawa State from office.
Hudu’s suspension is coming on the heels of his controversial behaviour at the recently concluded governorship election in the state.
The suspension is pending the completion of an investigation by the Inspector General of Police on the conduct and actions of the REC during the Supplementary election in Adamawa State.

Hudu Yunusa: Adamawa REC Beaten, Stripped For Declaring Binani Winner
This was contained in a statement by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, on Thursday.
The statement also ordered for the immediate investigation and prosecution, if found liable, of Barr. Hudu Yunusa Ari, by the Inspector General of Police.
President Buhari also demanded an investigation by the Inspector General of Police, Director-General of the Department of State Services, and the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, on the role of their officers in aiding and abetting the conduct/actions of Barr. Hudu Yunusa Ari and if found culpable, appropriate disciplinary actions, to be meted out to them.
Daily Report Nigeria recalls that Ari controversially declared Aisha Binani of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as winner of the poll while collation of results was still going on.
The Independent National Electoral Commission quickly declared his pronouncement as null and void, adding that Ari usurped the powers of the Returning Officer by his actions.
Meanwhile, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was declared winner of the Adamawa governorship election on Tuesday by INEC.
Fintiri polled 430,821 votes to defeat Binani, who polled 396,788 votes to come second.
