16 Passengers Burnt to Death in Osun Auto Crash

16 Passengers Burnt to Death in Osun Auto Crash | Daily Report Nigeria

A tragic auto crash occurred in the Odeomu area of Osun State on Saturday resulting in the death of sixteen individuals and injuries to others.

The accident involved a white commercial Mazda Bus with registration number APP834XT and a white Lexus Jeep bearing registration number LSR304HW, opposite Mat Oil.

According to the spokesperson of the Osun State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mrs Agnes Ogungbemi some of the victims were burnt beyond recognition.

The victims of the incident include 11 adults and five children. Only one person was identified and taken away by the family while four others sustained injuries.

She explained that those injured had been taken to Ise-Oluwa Medical Centre in the town for prompt medical attention

The FRSC rescue team, in collaboration with officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force, Odeomu Division, have evacuated the burnt bodies and deposited them at the morgue of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital in Osogbo, Osun State.

In light of this unfortunate incident, FRSC Corps Marshal Dauda Ali Biu has issued a cautionary statement to the motoring public.

He advised against the conveyance of explosive materials like gas cylinders in passenger vehicles due to the potential dangers they pose to human lives on the road.
