Tribunal refuses to allow Lalong represent Tinubu

The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal has prevented Plateau state Governor, Simon Lalong from standing representing President-elect, Bola Tinubu.

Lalong had stood up and announced himself as Tinubu’s representative following the conclusion of the first petition challenging the outcome of the 2023 presidential election was called up.

“My Lords, my name is Simon Lalong, and I am here to represent Tinubu,” the Governor declared.

However, the Justice Haruna Tsammani-led five-member panel refused to Lalong as Tinubu’s representative.

“You cannot represent an individual. Tinubu is not a corporation that would need a representative,” the presiding justice held.

The Governor in his response, said; “My Lords, in that case, I will represent the All Progressives Congress, APC.”

Daily Report Nigeria reports that the court adjourned pre-hearing the petition brought by Peter Obi and the Labour Party, seeking to nullify Tinubu’s victory.

The tribunal adjourned the hearing to Wednesday, May 10 2023, same date it fixed to hear the petition of the Action Peoples Party, APP.

Also adjourned for hearing is the petition of Atiku Abubakar and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, till Tuesday.
