A microblogging social media app, Twitter has announced the addition of audio and video calls features.

Its owner, Elon Musk disclosed the development in a recent post on the platform.

Musk on Wednesday said Twitter would get video, audio calls, and encrypted chat features soon.

He added that the upgrade would allow users to reply to any message in a thread.

The businessman said the encrypted DMs V1.0 trial was set to launch on May 11, 2023.

The voice and video chat features would help users make calls without giving out their phone numbers.

Musk said:

Coming soon will be voice and video chat from your handle to anyone on this platform, so you can talk to people anywhere in the world without giving them your phone number.”
