NIDCOM Reveals Current Status of Fleeing Nigerian Students from Sudan

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) has announced that one hundred and twenty-five more Nigerians have been airlifted to Nigeria making it the 15th batch since the commencement of the evacuation exercise on May 3.

The evacuees arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja on a Tarco B737-300 aircraft from Port Sudan at 12:49 pm.

The latest arrival brings the total number of evacuated Nigerians from Sudan to two thousand three hundred and seventy-one (2,371).

Upon arrival, the returnees were processed by immigration officials alongside their colleagues from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons.

The Federal Government has been providing assurances to Nigerians fleeing Sudan and the first batch arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on May 3.

For several days, a total of two hundred and seventy (270) Nigerian students were successfully evacuated from Egypt and brought back to Nigeria.

The first batch arrived at the airport in Abuja, with a NAF C-130H jet carrying eighty (80) individuals following closely behind. Two days later, the second batch arrived in Abuja via a Tarco Airline aircraft, carrying one hundred and thirty (130)passengers, including one hundred and twenty-eight (128) females and two males.

On May 13 the 15th batch of evacuees, consisting of one hundred and forty-seven (147) nationals, departed from Port Sudan International Airport and landed at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport around 8:30 pm local time. The group arrived via Tarco Air, marking another successful evacuation effort.
