Nigeria’s former Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has emerged winner of the 2020 International Service Award of the World Affairs Councils of America(WACA).

Dr Okonjo-Iweala took to her social media handles on Tuesday, November 17, to disclose her winning the award.

The World Trade Organization candidate for Nigeria thanked the WACA, saying she was honoured to win the prestigious award.

She wrote;
Honoured to win the 2020 International Service Award of the World Affairs Councils of America. Thank You, World Affairs Councils of America for bringing the world to America through dialogue, debate & action!

#COVID19 shows us how interconnected the world is & how important it is to be each other’s keeper.

Dr Ngozi Okonji-Iweala is in line to emerge the new Director General of the World Trade Organization.

She had won a majority of member votes to emerge winner before a strong opposing move by the United State prevented her announcement by the selection committee.
