Foreign Delegations Arrive for Tinubu’s Inauguration

Foreign Delegations Arrive for Tinubu's Inauguration | Daily Report Nigeria

Ahead of the inauguration ceremony of Bola Tinubu, several dignitaries, representatives of foreign governments, diplomats, and heads of international organizations have arrived in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

On Sunday, the United States delegation, led by Secretary Marcia Fudge, arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. The US Mission confirmed her arrival via its official Twitter handle, @UsinNigeria.

Similarly, the Canadian delegation, led by Minister Hussein Ahmed, has also arrived in the country, as disclosed by the Canadian High Commission on Twitter @CanadaInNigeria.

In addition to the US and Canadian delegations, several African Presidents are also in the country for the ceremony.

These include Abdelmadjid Tebboune of Algeria, Paul Kagame of Rwanda, Adamu Barrow of Gambia, Denis Nguesso of Congo Brazzaville, and Évariste Ndayishimiye of Burundi.

Several world leaders have also arrived in Abuja for the upcoming inauguration ceremony. Among them are the President of Ghana, Nana Akufo Addo, the President of Tanzania, Samia Hassan, and the President of Chad, Mahamat Déby.

Additionally, a delegation from France, led by the Minister Delegate for Development, Francophonie, and International Partnerships, Chrysoula Zacharopoulou, has also been confirmed to have arrived in the Nigerian capital.

Furthermore, the Defence Minister of India, Mr Rajnath Singh, has landed in Abuja for the ceremony. He was accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising senior officials from the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of External Affairs of India.

According to the Indian High Commission, the defence minister’s visit reflected the growing bilateral relations between India and Nigeria and signifies India’s commitment to strengthening ties with Nigeria.

A statement read:

“Mr Singh is the senior most minister in the Government of India. Sending such a senior minister to Nigeria as a Special Envoy of the Prime Minister of India reflects India’s commitment to the deep-rooted bilateral relations with Nigeria.’’

President-elect, Bola Tinubu who was declared winner of the 2023 presidential election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, will be sworn-in today, May 29 as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
