Adamawa Lawmaker Protests Fuel Subsidy Removal With Bicycle

The Chief Whip of Adamawa State House of Assembly, Haruna Jilantikiri has opted for using a bicycle to run his daily activities in protest against the hike in fuel prices.

Jilantikiri dropped his personal car to use a bicycle due to the current situation.

Daily Report Nigeria recalls that oil marketers increased the price of petrol shortly after President Bola Tinubu declared an end to the fuel subsidy regime.

The Adamawa Assembly chief whip who spoke to newsmen while riding on his bicycle on Thursday, lamented that Nigerians do not have the money for the new petrol price regime.

He said;

“The overwhelming majority of citizens cannot afford to drive cars or ride on their motorcycles considering the current situation.”

He stressed that the whole thing is devastatingly impacting the masses, adding that leaders like him ought to lead the protest against the trend.

“We are supposed to pack our cars and use bicycles to identify with our electorate,” he said.

He appealed to the Federal Government to address the problem without delay to ease the hardship already being experienced.

Meanwhile, Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf has appealed to petroleum marketers to sell products at the old prices.

Governor Yusuf made the appeal as an attempt to cushion the current hardship experienced by citizens in the state.

In a statement by his spokesman, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Yusuf said he was aware that the marketers still had old products in stock that ought to be sold at the old price.
