Femi Gbajabiamila has officially resigned from being a member of the Federal House of Representatives.
The decision is to enable the former Speaker of the House assume his new role of Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu.
Daily Report Nigeria reports that Gbajabiamila tendered his resignation from the House during plenary on Wednesday.
Gbajabiamila’s resignation is to enable him pay full attention in his new role as Chief of Staff to the President.

Gbajabiamila had raised eyebrows if he would be combining both duties after he was inaugurated and took part in the voting process for the Speaker and Deputy Speaker elections.
By way of his resignation, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will be expected to conduct a fresh election to fill the Surulere Constituency 1.
