Dr Ramon Adedoyin, owner of Hilton Hotels in Ile-Ife, Osun State, along with two of his staff members, have filed an appeal against their death sentence for the murder of ex-Masters student, Timothy Adegoke.

Adegoke was an ex-Masters student of the Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU Ile-Ife

Recall that the sentencing was delivered by an Osun State High Court’s Chief Judge, Adepele Ojo who presided over the case.

Ojo had sentenced Adedoyin and his staff members, Adeniyi Aderogba and Oyetunde Kazeem, to death by hanging. The staff members were convicted for participating in the evacuation of the deceased from the hotel.

The Justice had ordered that the hotel where Adegoke’s death occurred be forfeited to the state government and that the education of the deceased’s children be funded until they complete tertiary education from the estates of the convicts.

The judge, however, freed three staff members of the hotel namely; Magdalene Chiefuna, Oluwole Lawrence, and Adebayo Kunle, while the seventh defendant, Adesola Adedeji, who was the receptionist on duty on the day late Adegoke arrived at the facility, was sentenced to two years imprisonment starting from the day of her arrest.

However, the appeal filed by Adedoyin and his staff members sought to overturn the verdict of the court.

One of the lawyers that represented Adedoyin in the case, Mr Muhydeen Adeoye confirmed the development on Thursday.

Adeoye said:

“We have filed an appeal against the judgment of Osun State High Court. The appeal was filed before the Court of Appeal, Akure.”
