The suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, and the suspended Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa will be detained beyond the 48-hour limit as specified in Section 35 of the Constitution.

The source said;

“The DSS obtained an ex parte order from the court earlier this week, allowing them to extend Emefiele’s detention beyond the constitutional 48-hour limit. The intention is to preempt any potential lawsuits that could claim violations of his fundamental rights. It is a strategic move to avoid legal complications.”

Similarly, It was reported that the DSS has obtained an order for the detention of Bawa.

The order was obtained on Thursday to allow the DSS to complete their investigation into the allegations made against him.
