President-elect of the United States, Joe Biden, has appointed Nigerian-born Adewale Adeyemo, as the Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Department.
Mr Adeyemo, who is also currently the first President of the Obama Foundation in Chicago, is the first African to occupy the latest position.
He will be working alongside the Treasury Secretary, Janet Yellen.

The 39-years-old Nigerian has held several management positions at the US Department of Treasury before his latest position, this includes senior adviser, deputy chief of staff, and chief negotiator for the Trans-Pacific Partnership’s provisions on macroeconomic policy.
He also served as the deputy director of the National Economic Council during Obama’s tenure and the first chief of staff at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
