The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has recorded the death of five Nigerian pilgrims who are performing Hajj in Saudi Arabia.

Head of NAHCON’s Hajj Medical Team, Usman Galadima, made the revelation at a commission meeting in Makkah, Saudi Arabia on Saturday.

Galadima added that thirty patients are also facing psychological problems.

He noted that Osun and Kaduna State had two delegates each while Plateau State has one.

Galatima however revealed that people with mental disorders are currently receiving treatment and were scheduled to perform Hajj.

He said:

“There are 30 of them with mental health challenges.

“We have been managing them in our facilities. We have about four psychiatrists on the team.

“We have been managing them and all of them would likely perform hajj because they are a bit stable now.”

He also said that in 2023, Hajj Clinic recorded two miscarriages and delivered one child.

The hajj was the fifth of the fundamental Muslim practices and institutions known as the Five Pillars of Islam.
