Gunmen have reportedly invaded the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Abule-Ori, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.
In the attack, the gunmen killed a pastor and kidnapped seven worshipers on Saturday.
The news was confirmed by the Commander of the state’s So-Safe Corps, Soji Ganzallo in Abeokuta on Sunday.

However, Ganzallo stated his officers rescued seven church members and killed one of the kidnappers in a post-kidnapping encounter.
Ganzallo said:
“The special operation team of the Corps, Owode-Egba Zonal Command, under ACC Jimoh Rasaki Omoniyi, received a distress call that some of the members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Desires of Nations Parish, under Ogun Province 22, Abule-Ori in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area were attacked during a vigil, while seven members of the church were kidnapped and the pastor killed.”
According to him, officers of the corps were asked to chase the suspects to save the victims from their misery, saying that the officers acted immediately.
Ganzallo also disclosed that the force’s efforts yielded positive results.
He added that a joint team of the police and So-Safe Corps has launched a hunt for the kidnap suspect who was at large.
