Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff Leutenant General has opined that terrorism may stretch the country for another two decades.

Buratai was reacting to heavy criticism against the country’s service chiefs over rising levels of insecurity, wherein Nigerians have called for the removal of service chiefs.

Agitations for the removal of service chiefs has taken a new rise following the gruesome slaughtering of over 40 rice farmers at Zabarmari village in Borno state.

The Chief of Army Staff in a post on his verified Facebook account on Tuesday, Mr Buratai statef thay terrorism and insurgency may well continue in next twenty years in the country.

He wrote;
“There is general misunderstanding of what insurgency and terrorism entail. There is likelihood of terrorism persisting in Nigeria for another 20 years.

“It only depends on the level of escalation and the appropriate responses by all stakeholders both civil and military authorities. Also by both local in international actors.

“Citizens responsibility is equally important and imperative. All must cooperate to contain the lingering insecurity. Let there be collective action and responsibility,” he added.
