Describing the incident, the Chairman of the Okpoama Kingdom Security Committee, Munalayefa William-Sinte, said they had not been able to verbally communicate with the fishermen due to the language barrier.

Williams-Sinte added that the pair were worried but were reassured by sign language before being handed over to police.

He further asserted that a fisherman from Ilaje, Ondo State, a resident of Okpoama, has been missing for over a week and his colleagues have been searching the sea for several days.
