BREAKING: INEC To Prosecute 215 Electoral Offenders

BREAKING: INEC To Prosecute 215 Electoral Offenders

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said it will prosecute no less than two hundred and fifteen electoral offenders in the 2023 general elections.

According to INEC, the 215 documents were from the Nigerian Police alleging electoral irregularities during the 2023 general elections.

INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu made the disclosure during a meeting on Tuesday with Resident Electoral Commissioners RECs of the states.

Yakubu disclosed that the commission was collaborating with the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA to prosecute electoral offenders, adding that the NBA had provided four hundred and twenty-seven lawyers free of charge to help prosecute the cases.

Yakubu also added that the commission received a police report on the suspended Adamawa State’s REC, Yunusa Ari.

He stated that INEC would soon take appropriate action against Ari.
