Liverpool’s veteran midfielder, Jordan Henderson, has sealed a noteworthy £13 million transfer to Al-Ettifaq, embarking on a reunion with legendary Reds figure, Steven Gerrard, in the process.
Following an impressive 12-year tenure at Anfield, Henderson’s departure was officially confirmed by Liverpool on Thursday.
The 33-year-old has now reportedly inked a substantial £700,000 per week contract with Al-Ettifaq, where he will ply his trade in Saudi Arabia under the guidance of former Liverpool teammate Gerrard.
The latter was appointed as Al-Ettifaq’s new manager at the beginning of the month, adding further excitement to the reunion.

The Saudi Pro League has witnessed an influx of renowned talent this summer, with notable names such as Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante, and Edouard Mendy opting to shift away from European competition.
Henderson is the latest to embark on a lucrative move to the Middle East, and Gerrard will undoubtedly be counting on his presence to bolster Al-Ettifaq’s performance after finishing seventh in the league last season.
Henderson initially joined Liverpool from Sunderland in 2011 and amassed an impressive 492 appearances for the Reds, scoring 33 goals along the way.
He took on the esteemed role of club captain following Gerrard’s departure in 2015, playing a pivotal role in Liverpool’s triumphs under Jurgen Klopp, including capturing six trophies, most notably the Premier League and Champions League.
Fans eagerly anticipate Henderson’s competitive debut for Al-Ettifaq, scheduled for August 14, where they will kick off their 2023-24 Saudi Pro League campaign against none other than Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr.
