The convicts allegedly conspired and agreed among themselves to kill Vincent Ebere, using cutlasses and sticks, matcheting and bruising the victim on his head, on December 25, 2012.
The attack subsequently led to the victim’s death.
Justice Kpochi while delivering judgement, turned down a plea by the defendants, insisting that punishment for the heinous crime was inevitable.
Justice Kpochi held that the prosecution had proved his case beyond all reasonable doubt and sentenced all the accused to death by hanging accordingly.
Prosecuting Chief State Counsel, Mr. Ada Ocholi lauded the judgement, insisting it would serve as a deterrent to others. Mr Ocholi maintained that nobody was permitted to take laws into their hands no matter what.
Wife of the deceased, Mrs. Felicia Ebere and his brother, Chukwuma also commended the Court for the judgement and expressed happiness that justice was finally served for the murder of Vincent.
