Rising Nigerian singer, Omah Lay has reacted to his arrest by police in Ugandan and his arraignment before the Makindye Division court for flouting COVID-19 guidelines.
Omah Lay was arrested alongside Tems on Sunday after they performed in an event authorities termed were against preventive measures of the readed virus.

The duo were arrested together with their managers and four other Ugandans for holding an illegal concert at Ddungu resort in Munyonyo where the organizers gathered big crowds against President Museveni’s directives on the prevention of the spread of Covid-19.

According to Assistant Superintendent of Police and Deputy Police Spokesperson Kampala Metropolitan Police, Luk Owoyesigyire, the stars were charged with doing “acts that are likely to cause the spread of Coronavirus.”
They have since been remanded at the Luzira prison till Wednesday December 16, following a court hearing.
It was disclosed that plans to have them released have been suspended. They are to remain in custody until Wednesday, December 16.
“The earlier plans of releasing them on police bond, were suspended after their casefile was sanctioned by the Office of the DPP. They were jointly charged with four other Ugandans. All remanded till Wednesday 16.12.2020.”
In a series of tweets after his arraignment, Omah Lay questioned why he wasn’t given a right to a fair hearing in court.
He also claimed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nigeria has been trying to secure their release but the Ugandan officials have refused to speak with them.
Recall that president Museveni had placed a ban on all music concerts, closed down bars, banned fans at all sporting events, and reduced the number of people who could attend church services following the outbreak of the lethal virus in March.
